Lamayuru is the name in Ladakh that reflects the true pacification and glory all around the Himalayan valley. Around 125 kms at the west of Leh, there lies the most ancient and the spectacular monastery of Ladakh, the Lamayuru monastery which is also known as Yung-drung or the Swastika and the famous Lamayuru- Alchi trek is all about visiting such ancient asset of Ladakh in a pure surviving form. The Gompa, which traditionally and locally known is remarkably built on sand stone, dating back to 11th century was built by Rinchen Zangpo.  This monastery has a unique history of its own with mesmerizing surrounding area to bring an interesting topography and the enthusiastic trekkers can find the most bewildering routes all around the monastic areas.  The monastery houses some of the best murals and frescoes representing the Kashmiri style of Buddhist iconography. Day 01: Leh to Lamayuru – Wanla (3-4 hrs)
we start driving from Leh towards lamayuru through sham valley the most greenery part of ladakh.on reaching Lamayuru we visit Lamayuru monastry and starts walking towards village wanla.At the beginning of thr trek there is gradual walk up to Prinkiti La (3760m).
Day 02: Wanla – Fangila (5 hrs)
Today we start walking up stream along the footpath and arrive at the small village of Fangila (3410 m) at the junction of two streams. We will camp at the upper end of village.
Day 03: Fanjila to base Tar la (4200m/4 hrs)
We have to follow the trail along the valley and the trail ascends to the east and arrives at village Ursi.We have to walk further to reach the base of Tar La.Which is just near to the village.
Day 04: Base of Tarla – Tar (6 hrs)
Today we have to ascend and descend several times before reaching the Tarla (5250 m).On reaching Tar La, We will have beautiful panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. The descend are also steep and continue down to the village Tar . On reaching the village you see small and beautifull village. people are so hospitable and friendly .
Day 05: Tar – Mang Gyu (4-5 hrs)
Today after breakfast toward the east side of village , we have to walk up and cross a small pass called mangyu La 4150m in altitude. From the pass are nice views of Indus valley to the east and to the south are snow-capped mountains.
Day 06: Mang Gyu – Alchi – Leh (5-6 hrs)
Today is the last day of our trek. We have to follow the trail on the right bank of river to reach the village Gera. From Gera we will go by car to visit Alchi monastry, which is famous for its ancient murals and wood carving and drive back to Leh.
