Kedarkantha Trek is an easy trek highly recommended for those who are planning their first trek & want it to be snow laden.This is one of the few treks which are open for the entire year. The ideal season to do this trek however is from dec end to march when the trail is completely snow clad. Camping over snow by the lake, 360 degree view of some of the highest peaks like Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini, Black Peak are some of the major attractions of this trek. Lying in Govind Wild life Sanctuary and National Park in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, the region is home to rich flora & fauna.

Kedarkantha Trek is situated in the mountains of the tons river valley is a beautiful ridge peak; easily accessible anytime of the year. In the winters it snows in this valley and hence views from the summit are very rewarding. The trek goes through the Govind national park and gives you ample time to soak in the flora and fauna of this protected area. The summit lies at an altitude of 3850m and reaching the top is very satisfying as you are rewarded with views of peaks like the swargarohini, banderpooch, black and Ranglana.

Day 1: Drive from Dehradun – Sankri (8 hrs)

We will arrange the transport and they will meet you at Dehradun railway station to pick you for long but scenic drive to Sankri via Mussoorie, Purola, Mori, Netwar along the Tons River. On arrival set out camp for overnight stay.

Day 2: Trek from Sankri – Juda Ka Talab (4 hrs)

After morning exercise we will have our breakfast and start the trek around 8 AM for our next camp Juda Ka Talab. We will camp beside the small pond surrounded by Pine and Oak trees. One can have beautiful views of snow clad peaks from Juda Ka Talab campsite.

Day 3: Trek from Juda Ka Talab – Kedarkantha Base (3,193 mtr, 4 hrs)

Get up early morning to see the golden glow of snow clad peaks. Post breakfast start the trek to Kedarkantha Peak base which takes around 4 hrs to reach Kedarkantha Peak base. Enjoy hot lunch and explore the area.

Day 4: Kedarkantha Base camp – Kedarkantha Peak – Kedarkantha Base Camp (3,760 mtr, 7-8 hrs)

Today is a long day trek up to the summit of Kedarkantha peak, have your lunch with amazing views of snow clad peaks of Yamunotri and Gangotri ranges. After spending some quality time at the peak we trek back to nearby camping site at the Kedarkantha Base.

Day 5: Trek from Kedarkantha Base Camp – Sankri (4-5 hrs) and drive back to Dehradun

Trek down from Kedarkantha Base to Sankri via Hargaon on well marked trail by stones. Trek down through thick forest of Pine and Maple trees and at some places you will have open views of beautiful Har Ki Dun valley.  Drive back to Dehradun.

Day 1: DEHRADUN TO SANKRI (210kms) – 8 hrs drive

We start early from Dehradoon and reach Sankri by evening.

Day 2: EXPLORE SANKRI AND TREK TO JUDA TAL (2850m) – 10kms

Post breakfast we start our trek and head towards juda talab.

Day 3: JUDA TAL TO KEDAR KANTH MEADOW – 6kms

We start post breakfast and trek through the pine and oak trees to reach the open field below the summit.

Day 4: VISIT KEDARKANTHA PEAK (3850m) AND TREK BACK TO SANKRI

It’s a long Day today. We start early post breakfast and try to reach the top of the ridge by noon.

Day 5: SANKRI TO DEHRADUN (210kms)

Post breakfast drive from Sankri to Dehradoon. Reach by evening and disperse.
